Stuart Kane Partner Bruce May Featured Speaker at PIHRA
Stuart Kane is pleased to announce that Bruce May, partner in the employment group, will be a featured speaker at the upcoming Professionals In Human Resources Association (PIHRA) annual Mid-Year Legal Update. The half-day program will be held on June 5 in Woodland Hills, June 12 in Riverside and June 18 in West Los Angeles.
May will kick off the program with a presentation entitled “It’s ObamaTime! Get Ready For Changes In The Overtime Exemptions” covering the ramifications and effects of the President’s Executive Order directing the U.S. Department of Labor to require overtime pay for potentially millions of workers who are currently exempt under federal law, the existing requirements for the most important OT exemptions, the best methodology for conducting an internal audit of job classifications, and implementing a conversion from exempt to non-exempt (or vice versa) without triggering a claim for past due overtime or upsetting employee morale. Attendees of this program will come away with a clear understanding of the current requirements for exemption, and the best practices for assuring OT compliance.
Bruce May has represented employers for 35 years. Since 1979, he has devoted his practice exclusively to advising and defending companies of all sizes in every aspect of employment litigation and employment counseling. His expertise spans the entire spectrum of employment law from recruitment and hiring to termination and post-employment misconduct, and everything in between. May is a frequent public speaker on employment law topics before PIHRA, the National Human Resources Association and OC Tech Alliance.
